Hi my name is Joel R. Howard Sr.  and I am the owner / president of St. J. Stitching. I have been in the sewing business for 40 plus years.

          St. J. Stitching Inc. is a cut & sew contracting business. We are located in the “Northeast Kingdom” region of Vermont. The town of St. Johnsbury is quaint & quiet community population is approximately 7890 . We are located about an hours drive south  from Canada & twenty minutes from New Hampshire. Only about four hours drive from Boston Mass.

                 We employ approximately 50 workers. Our stitching staffs sewing skills are second to none. Many of our employees have 20 plus years of experience in their trade. We here at ST. J. Stitching Inc. do much more than “cut & sew”.  We have design & pattern making personnel combined with our cad equipment to help us provide the most efficient, high tech garment making services you product deserves.

Our support staff:

           St. J. Stitching Inc. employees our own spreading and cutting department. The cutting staff has over 15 years on the job experience. We can spread & cut tubular,  flat & rolled goods. We have two spacious cutting tables along with seven straight cutting knifes & assorted notching & drilling tools . In addition we have a 30 ton die cutting machine.

We have a extensive machine shop to keep our machines running in tip top shape. We also make many of our own folders / attachments and machine modifications to let our wide variety of sewing machines provide the specialty jobs required for our clients.  Our machines range from light duty single needle to heavy duty walking foot models. We have many machines that we use in knit goods such as high tech flatlocks, 3 needle cover stitcher’s along with many 2, 3 & 4 thread over edgers. Not to forget our 5 thread safety stitching & zig zag machines. Two needle drop feed to two needle walking foot with rear mounted pullers. Many multi needle machines some with pullers and metering devices.  This combined with many other assorted specialized stitching equipment. Many of our late model sewing machines are electronic models.

These include programmable single & double needles sewing machines, area tackers, button sewing machines, bar tackers & etc. Our list also includes heat transfer machines and seam sealing equipment. Several snap and grommet machines . 

                     Together, we all make up one of the best New England’s stitching facilities around.
